So nice to see a dentist who truly cares about her patients. She took a very in depth look at my teeth and gums and was keen to get to the root of the issue. She made me feel very comfortable and explained everything in detail so that I could understand my symptoms. Would highly recommend.
I had very bad experiences with some dentists in London prior to finding Dr. Shaila. I don’t normally write reviews, but I hope this review helps anyone looking for a dentist and avoid bad experiences like I had! Dr. Shaila is down to earth! She is very open and honest, and helps me to stay calm and understand my dental issues. It’s rare to find dentists who will take time to explain thoroughly or who genuinely care about patients like she does.
With a number of advanced techniques and a high level of hygiene safety you can feel assured you are in good hands with Shaila Patel-Buxton and her highly skilled assistant Violeta at The Natural Dentist & Bupa Dental Bank
Your emotional and mental well-being as well as physical health of your teeth is exceptionally well looked after and a top priority. As a nervous patient; time is taken to be sure I am comfortable, able to be part of the process and informed at every moment. I can take things slow or stop and have a breather anytime needed. My fears have been significantly reduced. I particularly like the use of the wand; a gentle, painless way to administer anaesthetic and numbing affect pre injections. For those that don’t like the drilling noise; gentle music is available or you can watch something of choice as a distraction.
The dental work, care and technologies used with Shaila are an exceptional standard. There is nothing more delightful than to have your dental health, your beautiful smile and confidence restored. I am filled with tears of joy. Highly recommended Dentist.
I use to hate the dentist and didn't go for years but I feel so comfortable and confident about seeing Shaila and Violeta.
From start to finish they were reassuring and professional. I can actually smile again now thanks to these two!
Thanks again ladies.
Shaila made me not being afraid of dentists and anaesthesia! Excellent communication, extra calming and answers all my strange questions. Most of all, Shaila is confident of her work and very professional in all aspects.
Really good dental experience!
Not something anyone would say lightly!
So happy to have found a holistic dentist near my home in east London. Highly recommended.
Due to Covid 19 Social Distancing, I am currently unable to see my usual dentist/ hygienist. I found Shaila online and sought her advice. She responded very quickly and I had an online consultation this morning.
I was very impressed by her kind manner, detailed questions, generosity of time and advice, especially considering I am not looking to change dentist, just for lockdown-period advice.
Although my experience with Shaila is limited, I really enjoyed my consultation and would recommend her to anyone.
I have been visiting Shaila for 2 years now and have always been very impressed and happy with my experience. I have complex spacing and was going to proceed with veneers but Shaila diligently assessed my case and recommended that I go with composite bonding instead, to prevent irreversible damage to my teeth.
The composite bonding result vastly exceeded my expectations! The result is extremely natural and quite incredible given it is “just” composite bonding. Shaila is highly skilled, diligent and, I genuinely believe, wants the absolute best for her patients (which is not always the case with others). In addition, she is a perfectionist and was more than happy to arrange follow-up appointments until we were both fully happy with the result.
I have a great deal of trust in the course of treatment(s) Shaila proposes and I can’t recommend her enough. You will very much struggle to find a dentist who is as thoughtful, diligent and as skilled as Shaila.

I had a dental emergency during the pandemic. My dentist's practica was closed and I was redirected to the one of Dr. Shaila Patel-Buxton. She quickly responded (whithin a few hours of my request) and offered a free consultation that same day. During the consultation she was able to assess the criticality of my case (I can know confirm, since I've managed to see my dentist) and, most importantly, she put my mind at ease (I was freaking out after the typical google images search...). Aside from this, she provided advice on how to treat the tooth while waiting for BoJo to reopen the dental practices and even sent me a link for home care. When talking to Shaila, she gives you that reassurance that only people that know what they are talking about give. I know that I will go and see if my normal dentist is unavailable in the future.
So if you are in dental pain/trouble, avoid google images (trust me on this), and go see her! =)
As a severe dentist phobic it still feels surreal to believe I had root canal work earlier this week! I'd never have managed it without Shaila's incredible care and compassion. It was also completely pain-free both during and afterwards.
Having avoided the dentist for many years, I inevitably need quite a lot of work doing, but with Shaila's help I've managed to go from feeling utterly terrified to rather looking forward to having it all done.
If you're a nervous patient - don't hesitate. Shaila will look after you. There's no hurry or pressure and I've felt comfortable asking lots of follow-up questions. Violetta, the dental nurse, is great too, and very caring.
Shame is a big part of the problem for many nervous patients who have avoided the dentist and this was quickly eliminated, leaving me feeling very comfortable. Be honest about your fears and Shaila will help - it's been genuinely life-changing for me and given my confidence a significant boost.
I've known Dr. Shaila Patel for almost 6 years. At the beginning I worked in the same building of her practice surgery. So it was the connivence made me know her. Since then, I've had check ups, fillings, extraction and crown replacement. All the treatments I've received from her have been carried out pain free and with brilliant results. I always come back to her for dental treatments although my work is no longer close to where she works.
She is professional, super friendly, caring and honest. She always try to give the best suggestions, and I feel that I can trust her completely. I couldn't recommend her highly enough. It's truly a joy to be her patient.
MAGICAL DENTIST ....... If you are anxious about visiting the dentist please read until the end as I hope to put some of your fears to rest and confirm that you are absolutely in the best hands with Dr Shaila Patel-Buxton (I really cannot tell you how amazing this woman is, but hopefully by the end of the review you will have an idea, so read on!)
To cut a long story short, I'd put off going to the dentist as I suffer from severe health anxiety and I just couldn't face it, until one day I felt a different sensation in my mouth, uh oh!
I was initially faced with finding a new dentist (my old one was great, but 600 miles away as i relocated) and I was suffocated with the thought that a new dentist might recommend a lot of work - its really hard to trust someone you just met, with something you might feel really vulnerable and frightened about, right?
I'd read a few reviews about Shaila that were really promising - especially in her approach to nervous patients and I booked in for a check up. From the instant I walked in I was greeted with a really welcoming and reassuring smile and in that moment, she wasn't my dentist, she was my friend and ally - I really felt Shaila could tell I'd been through the 'wars in my head' just to get through the door and she was in no rush to get me into the chair, she just wanted to talk and get to know me and understand my fears! (Tip: something that really worked for me was to write down on a bit paper all the things that I was scared of and I then showed it to Shaila and we discussed each fear on the page!)
The check up was great, I actually left feeling more relaxed than I went in even thought I was told I needed a filling! (Tip: sometimes its the fear of the unknown that makes it worse!) Shaila reassured me throughout the checkup and told me everything she was doing before doing it to ensure I was in agreement - it really felt that the check up was on my terms - which if your anxious, can make all the difference. She listened and she laughed with me and she lightened the mood entirely!
I knew I needed to return for the filling and was completely dreading it, Shaila was conscious of the impact this was having on me and encouraged a quick appointment to get it sorted rather than leaving it for a few weeks - that way it wouldn't be on my mind! Sheila also arranged a longer than normal appointment to ensure we would have time, to take out time! (wow!)
On my return I was encouraged to bring anything no matter how silly and so i rocked up with my big girl pants on with my hot water bottle and noise cancelling earphones!
Shaila numbed me up to get the procedure moving and this was the scariest part for me (a needle phobic!) She used this new technology called the wand which delivers pain free anaesthesia (I'd read some reviews about this new method of numbing, but didn't believe it would actually be pain free) Shaila was so precise I honestly didn't feel a thing not even a pinch (and I don't mean the pain was barely noticeable, it wasn't there at all!) After that, the procedure went to plan and a week later, my tooth feels no different to than it did before which is a tell tale sign of a great dentist!
I left Shaila's care feeling myself again, feeling relaxed and that not only had my oral health improved, but my mental health had improved too. This was clearly over and above Shailas job role, but how wonderful to find a dentist that works from the heart.
I can honestly say this was the best dental experience of my life (and I've had good experiences in the past - but this was extra special and thats not something I thought I would be saying about getting a filling!)
So from one anxious patient to another, if you are in 2 minds about going to the dentist and which dentist to choose, choose Dr Shaila Patel-Buxton, she's pretty special!
