A 27 year old woman came for a check-up with bleeding gums and a sore front tooth. It had been 8 years since her last visit to the dentist. She was really NERVOUS after having a bad experience with the dentist as a child, and her trusted family dentist had retired.
On assessment, early gum disease was detected and an X-ray assessment revealed a cyst on her front tooth. Although this was unpleasant news, it was vital to treat the cyst promptly.
Her management plan included gum treatment, a joint consultation with the implant surgeon to explore cyst treatment allowing the patient to make an informed decision knowing that she was in safe hands.
In the following months, she managed to quit smoking, get her gums healthy and have her cyst removed. She is really pleased with her new front tooth, and feeling more confident about her dental health.
